Timers Needed This Weekend

Stay tuned for the final meet details, which will be communicated shortly by Jordan. It's important to note that we're in need of more timers than usual for this event. We kindly ask for your commitment to timing by utilizing the sign-up genius to schedule your slot. The sign up link will be included with Jordan's meet information, and can also be found HERE.

No Practice Friday, 3/9 - Saturday, 3/10

Please be aware that there will be no practice on Friday or Saturday this week due to the meet. Also We appreciate your understanding and patience as the locker rooms at Wulf undergo renovation work this week. They are slated to reopen next week and will be accessible to all swimmers. Let's remember to treat the locker rooms with care and respect, leaving them in better condition than we found them.

Meet Intro for New Swimmers

A special thank you goes out to Heather Fiebing for compiling invaluable information and advice for new families regarding swim meet participation. She graciously shared her insights with some families yesterday at Cat 1 practice, and a summarized version will soon be permanently available on the website. I'll ensure all Cat 1 families receive a link to this resource as soon as it's accessible.

Recruiting Officials

It takes an entire community for great swim meets to be a normal part of our season. One of the best things we can do as a small team is to offer up a few officials to help out in each of the meets we participate in. Having a core group of in-house officials is also a major step towards building our team's capacity to host meets, which could be a huge fundraising opportunity for our team in the future.

A number of parents have recently shown interest in learning how to become an official, and we have been working to get a training scheduled at our pool for some time. As it happens, all officials training is currently suspended as USA Swimming roles out a new online training platform that new officials can complete on their own time.

We expect that the rollout of the new program is eminent, so please consider whether you have the campacity to become an official. We will communicate more details when the next steps are available.

Summer Meet Schedule Changes

There have been a few changes to our summer meet schedule due to pool availabity. The comprehensive calendar (viewable HERE) is now up to date with the following changes:

  • The NJ May invite has been cancelled (Meyers demolition has been scheduled ahead of the meet)
  • Greeley Invite has been added on June 1st and 2nd (it is yet to be determined whether this will be a 1 or 2 day meet)
  • The Riptide SLQ (12 and under) has moved from May 5th to May 11th
  • The Swim-a-thon has moved from May 11th to May 5th
  • The Splash and Dash scheduled for July 6th is now confirmed! This promises to be an incredible event, co-hosted with EPRD, featuring swimming in the Buchanan East Pond and a thrilling run along the surrounding trails. Open to the entire community, there will be various divisions racing different distances. We're aiming for a strong turnout, with families – including many Hurricanes parents and siblings – encouraged to participate. While we understand many may have travel plans for this weekend, we urge you to consider making this exciting event part of your 4th of July celebrations!
